Women of the ELCA Our Basket and Bake sale went very well. We want to thank all who helped in any way, all who brought items for the baskets, those that helped put them together, all who brought baked goods and those that helped the day of the sale. One thing for next year, we need more bigger baskets, we ran out, so keep looking for baskets as big as a dinner plate or bigger. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the ordination of women in the ELCA, a special scholarship fund has been established to help in the financial support of women from the NE Minnesota Synod who are enrolled in the ELCA seminary pursuing ordained ministry. This fund, the Women in Seminary Education (WISE) was initiated with funds from our Synodical Women’s Organization (SWO) and will grow through gifts from individuals, congregational units, and our SWO. If you want to make a gift to this scholarship fund please make your checks payable to Women of the ELCA and note WISE FUND in the memo line. You will then need to send them to our SWO treasurer, Diane Jacobson at 2991 Moose River Drive, Sturgeon Lake, MN, 55782. Help us honor those women who have paved the way some 40 plus years ago when the ELCA recognized ordination of women. Help us support the women that are following in their footsteps, and support these dedicated women with your prayers. Zion’s Women Taking Faith Home We have made it easy for you! Take a look on the shelf just outside of the sanctuary and you will find weekly sheets "taking faith home" from Vibrant Faith Ministries. They have daily Bible readings, prayers, and key faith practices that relate to the Lectionary readings for each Sunday. Take the time to pick one up and take faith home with you.

Confirmation December 7, 14 & 21 December 28 January 5 January 12 Zion’s Christmas Toy Box Each year, Zion is a generous participant in the Second Harvest North Central Food Bank’s Holiday Program. Please, pick one or more gingerbread children from the tree in the narthex and buy a non-violent age appropriate gift for the child whose age is given on the back of the ornament and place the gift (unwrapped and with the ornament taped to the gift) in the toy box. New toys may also be donated without picking up an ornament. Because so many corporations no longer allow Second Harvest to use their stores for the Gingerbread Tree, our help is needed more than ever. This year, 1800 local children will benefit from our giving, including older children who are often forgotten. The final drop off for the toys at Zion is Thursday, December 15th ! Thank you, for making this a happy holiday for the children and their families! Social Ministry Committee |
